Pavillon Joséphine

The Pavillon Joséphine sits within the Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil as a long, pale building defined by its tall, arched glass windows and delicate ironwork. It arrived in Paris in eighteen fifty-six from the imperial gardens at Saint-Cloud, dismantled and moved piece by piece under the direction of Napoleon the Third. Empress Joséphine never actually visited this specific structure, but the name stuck, tethering the pavilion to the horticultural legacy of the French monarchy long after the empire fell.
