Pont de Bir-Hakeim

The Pont de Bir-Hakeim serves two separate layers of traffic. The upper deck carries the trains of Metro line six, while the lower level provides a path for vehicles and pedestrians. This design was chosen at the start of the twentieth century to accommodate the rapid expansion of the city railway system, allowing trains to emerge from underground and cross the Seine in the open air.
