Musée de l'Homme

The Musee de l'Homme anchors the western wing of the Palais de Chaillot, distinguished by two massive, curving colonnades that frame the Trocadero gardens. It houses the history of human evolution, physical anthropology, and social science within a structure built for the nineteen thirty-seven World Fair. Paul Rivet founded the museum to replace the old Trocadero ethnographic collections. During the Nazi occupation, the staff transformed these galleries into the headquarters for one of the very first French Resistance networks.
