UNESCO Headquarters

The UNESCO headquarters features a Y-shaped concrete building lifted on seventy-two pilotis. It sits at the edge of the Place de Fontenoy, distinguished by its stark, modernist silhouette against the backdrop of more traditional Parisian architecture. When construction finished in nineteen fifty-eight, it served as the first international organization headquarters in Paris. The design team included Marcel Breuer, Pier Luigi Nervi, and Bernard Zehrfuss, who collaborated to create a structure that functions as a house for global peace negotiations.
