Fontaine de Varsovie

The Fontaine de Varsovie features twenty water cannons that shoot arcs of water toward the Eiffel Tower. These bronze jets are set into a long, rectangular basin, surrounded by manicured lawns and stone sculptures of animals. Built for the nineteen thirty-seven World’s Fair, the fountain was designed to complement the sprawling Trocadéro gardens. During the fair, the massive cascades illuminated the grounds at night, creating a spectacle that drew thousands of Parisians to the hilltop to watch the water light up the sky.
