Trocadéro Palace

The Trocadéro Palace is defined by two massive, curved wings that sweep outward from a central terrace, framing a wide view of the Eiffel Tower. Built for the eighteen seventy-eight World Fair, the original structure featured a giant concert hall and twin towers. During the fair, the American inventor Thomas Edison displayed his light bulb inside the building, giving many Parisians their first look at electric light. By nineteen thirty-seven, the city replaced the old palace with the current concrete Palais de Chaillot.
