La Fermette Marbeuf

monument

The dining room of La Fermette Marbeuf features an expansive stained-glass skylight framed by intricate Belle Époque woodwork. In nineteen seventy-eight, workers renovating the building discovered this glass ceiling behind a layer of plaster that had hidden it since the nineteen twenties. The owner, who intended to modernize the space, immediately halted his plans to preserve the vibrant floral patterns and peacock motifs. Today, the restaurant operates as a window into the decorative ambitions of the nineteen hundreds.
