The Musée Jacquemart-André is a grand nineteenth-century mansion distinguished by its facade of stone balconies and tall, arched windows along the Boulevard Haussmann. Edouard André and Nélie Jacquemart spent their lives traveling to Italy to fill this house with paintings and sculpture. One afternoon, Nélie returned from a trip with a rare fresco she had secretly purchased, only to find that Edouard had bought the exact same piece from a different dealer. It still hangs in the mansion today.
