The Pagoda Paris rises above the street corner with its vivid red lacquer and upturned eaves, a stark departure from the surrounding Haussmann stone buildings. Ching Tsai Loo, an art dealer who specialized in Asian antiquities, transformed this eighteenth-century mansion in nineteen twenty-five. He converted the interior into a private gallery and museum to showcase his vast collection. He wanted a space that reflected the art he sold, so he altered the facade completely. He lived and worked here among his treasures.
