The building you are approaching serves as the city hall for Issy-les-Moulineaux, but its life began in the eighteenth century as a private country residence. It was designed by the architect Étienne-Louis Boullée for the financier Nicolas Beaujon. Boullée is a celebrated figure in architectural history, also known for his work on the Élysée Palace in Paris. When you look at the structure, you are seeing a piece of history that shifted from the personal domain of a wealthy financier to the center of municipal administration.
