Porte du Point-du-Jour

The Porte du Point-du-Jour stands as a quiet reminder of the old Thiers wall that once encircled Paris. It served as one of the fortified gates where taxes were collected on goods entering the city. In the early twentieth century, the area bustled with workers arriving from Boulogne-Billancourt, but when the fortifications were demolished after the First World War, the gate lost its purpose. Today, it marks the boundary between the modern city and the historic path of the old wall.
