Ancien château Conti

The white limestone facade of the Ancien Château Conti stands out with its tall, arched windows and deep roofline among the trees of the park. It was built in the late seventeenth century as a retreat for the Prince of Conti, a member of the royal family. In eighteen seventy-one, the building became a target during the civil unrest of the Paris Commune. Fire gutted the interior, leaving only these stone walls to eventually be repurposed for the local town hall and library.
