Ancien château Conti

The site you are approaching was once the site of a grand Baroque estate known as the Château d'Issy, a favored country retreat for the powerful Prince of Conti. In 1699, the prince purchased the property to compete with his cousin, who had established a lavish residence in the neighboring town of Meudon. Under the prince's direction, the architect Pierre Bullet transformed the estate, adding a distinctive peristyle facade featuring Doric columns and a semicircular entrance. André Le Nôtre, the famous garden designer of the era, crafted expansive grounds that stretched across the landscape.
