Dôme de Paris

The Dôme de Paris presents a massive, rounded roof covered in thousands of copper scales that shimmer like a beetle shell against the skyline. It started in nineteen sixty as a temporary exhibition hall, intended to stand for only a few years. When the structure survived its initial deadline, the city kept it. The architect Pierre Dufau designed the dome to avoid using any internal pillars, which created a vast, open space that eventually hosted everything from boxing matches to massive musical productions.
