Château d'Issy

The Parc Henri Barbusse holds the memory of a grand estate that once stood as a center of aristocratic life on the edge of Paris. In the seventeenth century, this site was transformed into a private pleasure ground for the wealthy and powerful. Denis Talon, a prominent magistrate, commissioned the architect Pierre Bullet to design a refined country house here. The renowned landscape designer André Le Nôtre, famous for his work at Versailles, laid out the expansive gardens that connected the residence to the surrounding landscape with carefully placed fountains and vistas.
