Cirque Gruss

landmark

The Cirque Alexis Gruss occupies a permanent, tented structure in the Bois de Boulogne, distinguished by its massive, cream-colored canvas roof that stretches against the surrounding trees. Founded by Alexis Gruss in nineteen seventy-four, this circus serves as the family home and stage for a dynasty of equestrians. Alexis insisted on reviving the traditional circus arts, focusing on horseback acrobatics rather than mechanical spectacles. He lived and performed here alongside his children, training their horses in the same ring where they hold evening shows today.
