Vaugirard Cemetery

The Vaugirard Cemetery contains graves huddled beneath the shadow of the Petite Ceinture railway line, which cuts directly across the property. Before it became this quiet plot, the land belonged to the parish of Vaugirard. When the original cemetery at the church ran out of space in the seventeen hundreds, authorities moved burials here to the edge of the village. Adolphe Chérioux, a local politician, rests here, but the real oddity is the train track passing overhead, separating the dead from the city above.
