Pavillon Suisse

The Pavillon Suisse stands as a bold departure from traditional student housing. Designed by the architect Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, it was completed in 1933 to provide hygienic and affordable living space for Swiss students. The architects initially refused the commission because of their frustration with Swiss authorities, but they eventually accepted the project to demonstrate that Switzerland could represent itself through modern innovation rather than traditional rustic imagery like chalets and cows.
