Maison du Brésil

The Maison du Brésil stands as a striking example of modernist architecture, born from a volatile partnership between two legends of design. In 1952, the Brazilian government commissioned the celebrated architect Lucio Costa to create a residence for Brazilian scholars and students in Paris. Costa invited Le Corbusier to collaborate on the project, but the two men clashed so intensely over the creative direction that Costa eventually withdrew his name from the final design. Le Corbusier moved forward with the project, fundamentally altering the original vision while leaving behind a structure that serves as a permanent, if contentious, monument to their shared modernist ideals.
