Cimetière de Gentilly

The Cimetière de Gentilly is an unusual administrative anomaly. Although it is located entirely within the thirteenth arrondissement of Paris, it is owned and managed by the suburban commune of Gentilly. This arrangement dates back to 1925, when Paris annexed the former military zone that separated the city from its suburbs, leaving this plot of land as a lingering historical island of Gentilly territory inside the capital.
