Theater Mandapa

The Theater Mandapa, founded in nineteen seventy-five by Milena Salvini and Roger Filipuzzi, takes its name from the Sanskrit word for a pillared hall in an Indian temple where ritual dance and music performances occur. Fittingly, this space functions as a modern version of that tradition, serving as a specialized venue for world arts and oral storytelling. While many Parisian theaters aim for grand scale, the Mandapa was intentionally designed for extreme intimacy, with a modest capacity that physically bridges the gap between performer and audience. This deliberate architecture allows for an experience that mimics the sacred, close-quarters atmosphere found in the classical performance spaces of India.
