Thermes de Cluny

The Thermes de Cluny preserve the monumental ruins of Lutetia, the ancient Roman city that once occupied this site long before it became modern Paris. These public baths were built in the early third century and served as a major social hub where citizens gathered to exercise, bathe, and conduct business. The most striking survivor of this complex is the frigidarium, a cold-water room that stands as one of the tallest Gallo-Roman chambers in northern Europe, with its original vaulted ceiling still soaring fourteen meters above the ground.
