Humboldt Forum

The Humboldt Forum displays a bright white facade decorated with elaborate stone carvings and sits behind a reconstructed Baroque exterior. This massive structure occupies the site of the former Palace of the Republic, which the East German government built after demolishing the ruins of the original royal Prussian palace. After the collapse of the Berlin Wall, authorities tore down that twentieth-century parliament building. Workers eventually resurrected the old palace walls to house a collection of global art, scientific displays, and cultural history.
