Rory Gallagher Corner

The bronze replica of a nineteen sixty-one Fender Stratocaster embedded in the wall at the corner of Meeting House Square and Essex Street marks the spot where Rory Gallagher lived for a time. The guitar is beaten and road-worn, just like the instrument the Cork-born bluesman played until the wood itself began to flake away. Gallagher moved into this building in the nineteen seventies, back when Temple Bar was a decaying district of warehouses rather than the polished tourist destination it is today.
