Fukuoka Art Museum

The Fukuoka Art Museum sits as a low, concrete block directly within the edge of Ohori Park, distinguished by a massive, hollowed-out yellow pumpkin sculpture by Yayoi Kusama resting near its entrance. Opened in nineteen seventy-nine, the museum holds a collection that spans from ancient Buddhist statues to contemporary works by Salvador Dali and Joan Miro. Architect Kunio Maekawa designed the structure to integrate the park environment, featuring wide glass walls that bring the reflection of the surrounding lake into the exhibition halls.
