Ukimi-do Pavilion (Ohori Park)

The Ukimi-do Pavilion floats above the water of Ohori Park, connected to the shore by a single wooden bridge. Its hexagonal roof and vermillion pillars stand out against the expanse of the pond, mimicking the design of traditional temple architecture from Kyoto. While the park itself began as the remains of a defensive castle moat, this pavilion arrived much later, during the nineteen eighties. It provides a quiet point for visitors to watch the koi swimming beneath the floorboards.
