Okusha Worship Center of Fushimi Inari Shrine

religious

The Okusha Worship Center features a high, peaked roof covered in weathered gray shingles, set back from the main mountain trail. This is the place where pilgrims once offered prayers before climbing the full ascent of Mount Inari. In the nineteen seventies, a massive typhoon tore through the forest, snapping cedar trees like matchsticks and crushing the original structures. Workers rebuilt this center using the fallen timber, turning the damage into a new foundation for the prayers that continue here today.
