Kumataka Shrine

religious

The Kumataka Shrine sits along the narrow, stone-paved path of the Fushimi Inari mountain trail, marked by a dense cluster of weathered vermilion torii gates that crowd the small clearing. It is dedicated to the spirit of the mountain itself. Legend says a man once followed a hawk here, only to find the bird vanish into the woods, leading him to establish this site. Devotees leave thousands of tiny stone fox statues at the base of the trees as offerings for business success.
