Zenkoku-ji

A red gate stands at the entrance of Zenkoku-ji, distinguishing the temple from the modern buildings surrounding it in Kagurazaka. Founded in the late sixteenth century, the temple was originally located elsewhere in Tokyo before moving to this neighborhood in seventeen ninety-three. A statue of Bishamonten, a deity of wealth and fortune, sits inside the main hall. Residents have visited the temple for generations to pray for prosperity, keeping the wooden structure at the center of the local community.
