Kakurenbo Yokocho (Hide-and-Seek Alley)

Kakurenbo Yokocho is a narrow, stone-paved alleyway tucked between high-rise buildings in the heart of Kagurazaka. Its name comes from the way the path bends sharply and winds out of sight, a design meant to confuse anyone trying to navigate it. During the Taisho era, this area served as a discreet shortcut for geisha hurrying between teahouses, safely hidden from the prying eyes of the main streets. Even now, the black wooden fences keep the path feeling like a private, quiet secret.
