The Kitazawa Bookstore rises as a narrow, multi-story tower of shelves, distinct for the sheer density of secondhand English-language academic books crammed into its Jimbocho facade. Established in nineteen oh two, the shop survived the Great Kanto Earthquake and the air raids of the second world war by operating as a specialized hub for scholars and researchers. Saburo Kitazawa personally sourced rare volumes from overseas, building a collection that filled the floors with philosophy, history, and literature from across the globe.
