Ohya Shobo occupies a narrow, three-story building with a wooden facade that stands out against the modern concrete of the Kanda district. This shop specializes in antique maps and ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the Edo period. When the founder, Ohya Shichiro, opened the doors in eighteen eighty-two, he traded in ordinary used books. After the Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed much of the city in nineteen twenty-three, he shifted his focus entirely to historical maps, becoming the primary source for collectors and scholars.
