Ozu Washi

other

Ozu Washi occupies a building marked by a distinctive, dark wooden facade that stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding glass and steel. This shop has operated in Nihonbashi since sixteen fifty-three. It began as a paper wholesaler for the shogunate, supplying the thick, durable sheets used for official decrees and bookkeeping. When the first Ozu Matashiro opened these doors, he established a trade that survived the Great Kanto Earthquake and the air raids of the second world war.
