The Ryōgoku Edo NOREN occupies the former site of the old Ryōgoku Station, identified by its high, gabled roof and the dark, industrial steel trusses that span the cavernous interior. It serves as a dining hall built around an authentic wooden sumo wrestling ring, or dohyō, placed directly in the center of the hall. The facility functions as a preservation project, designed to house traditional restaurants that reflect the culinary heritage of the Edo period within the shell of the historic station.
