Former Yasuda Garden

The former Yasuda Garden features a central tidal pond where the water level once rose and fell with the flow of the nearby Sumida River. Zenjiro Yasuda, a prominent financier, acquired this estate in nineteen twenty-two to serve as his private residence. He designed the landscape to mimic the rhythmic movement of the tides, connecting the garden directly to the river through underground pipes. Today, the pond water is artificially controlled, but the stone bridges and manicured pine trees remain from his original vision.
