The Pacific Lookout is a concrete viewing platform that sits on a sharp rise above the Balboa neighborhood. It features a distinct, rusted metal railing and a wide, cracked cement floor exposed to the sea breeze. In the nineteen twenties, this spot served as a strategic point for watching ships pass through the Panama Canal entrance. Local engineers built it so they could monitor canal traffic and weather patterns from a high vantage point before the modern skyscrapers obscured the view of the Pacific.
