Wenshu Pavilion

The Wenshu Pavilion features a dense cluster of dark timber roofs, decorated with intricate wooden carvings and sweeping, upturned eaves that distinguish it from the surrounding city grid. This complex functions as a working Buddhist monastery, home to the monks of the Chan tradition. In the mid-seventeenth century, a monk named Cidu lived among these ruins, eventually attracting local pilgrims who helped him rebuild the site. He supposedly remained physically uncorrupted after his death, a miracle that solidified the monastery's enduring reputation.
