Charleston Park features a series of terraced concrete tiers that mimic the natural rise of the landscape. It serves as a connector between the office buildings of the North Bayshore district and the San Francisco Bay Trail. Before the tech campuses arrived, this stretch of land held salt ponds and orchards. City planners designed the park to manage storm water runoff while providing a public gathering space. A resident once planted a small unauthorized grove of fruit trees near the walking path.
