The Shops at Thirteen Forty Five features a facade of white breeze blocks and clean, geometric lines typical of mid-century desert modernism. This building served as the former home of the Desmond family, who commissioned architect E. Stewart Williams to design it in nineteen fifty-five. Later, the structure transitioned into a curated retail space. A photograph from the archives shows the living room hosting a formal cocktail party, where the glass walls blurred the boundary between the interior floor and the backyard pool.
