Iconic Atomic

The Iconic Atomic house sits behind a sharp, clean roofline that angles upward toward the desert sky like a paper bird in flight. Architects William Krisel and Dan Palmer designed this structure in nineteen fifty-eight to help define the modern look of the Old Las Palmas neighborhood. It served as a test for affordable, mass-produced mid-century design. The developer, George Alexander, used the house to convince buyers that flat roofs and floor-to-ceiling glass belonged in the middle of a California summer.
