Fillmore East

The building at one hundred five Second Avenue stands as a physical marker for a legendary era in rock music. Though it operated as the Fillmore East for only three years, it earned the nickname the Church of Rock and Roll. Promoter Bill Graham opened the venue in nineteen sixty-eight, transforming the space into a primary destination where artists like Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, and The Who defined the sound of their generation. The venue was renowned for its acoustic quality, which made it a preferred site for recording live albums that remain celebrated today.
