Throughout the nineteen fifties and sixties, this subterranean space functioned as one of the most prominent drag venues in the United States, famous for its lavish, high-production revues featuring female impersonators. The club’s tagline was Who Is No Lady, and its nightly shows were so elaborate they included Broadway-level costumes and choreography directed by the acclaimed performer Kitt Russell.
