KGB Espionage Museum

This building once housed the largest private collection of KGB espionage artifacts in the world. Founded in 2019 by Lithuanian collector Julius Urbaitis and his daughter Agne Urbaityte, the space displayed over 3,500 items ranging from surveillance gadgets hidden in everyday objects to massive cipher machines. Visitors encountered displays that featured cameras embedded in buttons, shoes, and rings, alongside a reproduction of a Soviet-era interrogation room. The museum aimed to provide an unfiltered look at the tools of the Soviet security state, though it permanently closed its doors following the economic strain of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its entire collection was eventually sold at auction, leaving behind this site as a former destination for those seeking to understand the mechanical reality of Cold War tradecraft.
