Museum of Pizza

event

The Museum of Pizza, often called MoPi, was a short-lived pop-up exhibition that transformed a space within the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg during the autumn of 2018. It functioned as an immersive, selfie-friendly environment rather than a traditional museum, featuring roughly ten themed rooms dedicated to the cultural impact of pizza. Visitors moved through artistic installations, including a blacklight pizza vortex and a room filled with sculptural, molten-cheese stalactites, before finishing the tour with a complimentary slice from a local pizzeria. The project aimed to use the universal appeal of pizza as a medium for both contemporary art and history, serving as a social-media-focused experience that attracted over twenty-five thousand attendees during its brief six-week existence.
