The Segundo Parque de Laureles serves as a wide, tree-lined roundabout dominated by massive, mature rubber trees that cast deep shadows over the asphalt. This space emerged in the nineteen forties as city planners carved a suburban residential grid out of what had been private farmland. While other neighborhoods in Medellin expanded upward with concrete, the founders here insisted on low-rise homes and generous public green space. A marble fountain sits at the center, marking the neighborhood's original intention as a quiet, landscaped retreat.
