Lesser Town Bridge Tower

The Lesser Town Bridge Tower stands at the west end of the Charles Bridge, recognizable by its two distinct towers connected by a narrow gate. Built in the mid-fifteenth century, the shorter tower is the older remnant of the Judith Bridge, while the taller tower was added later to mirror the architecture of the Old Town side. King George of Podebrady commissioned the structure to defend the Malá Strana district, turning a simple entrance into a formidable gatehouse for the capital of Bohemia.
