La Gaîté Lyrique

The facade of La Gaîté Lyrique features a grand, ornate stone front that seems out of place among the modern digital screens inside. Built in eighteen sixty-two by architect Alphonse Cusin, it started as a theater for operettas. Jacques Offenbach premiered several works here, filling the house with music and applause. In nineteen seventy-five, the city converted it into a park for children, but that project eventually shuttered. Now, it hosts exhibitions, concerts, and digital art studios for a new generation.
