The bridge you are walking toward is defined by a single, elegant steel arch that spans the Seine without touching the riverbed. Designed by architect and engineer Marc Mimram, this structure was built to replace a series of less stable bridges that preceded it on this site. The foundations of the bridge are hidden fifteen meters deep underground at both riverbanks to support the weight of the structure.
