Musée national Eugène-Delacroix

The Musée national Eugène-Delacroix sits tucked behind a modest brick facade on the rue de Furstenberg. It is the final apartment and studio of the Romantic painter, who moved here in eighteen fifty-seven to be near the Church of Saint-Sulpice, where he had been commissioned to paint murals. Delacroix lived here for six years, tending to his small, quiet garden while struggling with declining health. He died in this house in August of eighteen sixty-three, surrounded by his sketches and favorite brushes.
