The Eglise des Billettes features a jagged, flamboyant Gothic facade that stands out against the flatter lines of the surrounding rue des Archives. This church exists because of a medieval legend about a stolen communion wafer that supposedly bled when stabbed by a gambler in thirteen ninety. King Charles the Sixth seized the gambler’s house as punishment and donated the land to build a chapel. Today, it serves as a Lutheran place of worship, keeping the stone walls that have outlasted that original, grim accusation.
