Hôtel de Ville

The Hôtel de Ville features a facade covered in over one hundred statues of famous Parisians, including Molière and Voltaire. This building serves as the city's administrative headquarters, occupying the same site where municipal government began in thirteen fifty-seven. During the Paris Commune of eighteen seventy-one, rebels set the structure on fire, destroying the entire interior and its archives. Workers rebuilt the exterior to match the original Renaissance design, while the inside reflects the lavish style of the French Third Republic.
